There’s no doubt that the celebration of birthdays is widespread among Muslims, but where did birthdays actually originate? Should Muslims participate in birthday celebrations? And what about the Mawlid, a known celebration in honor of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)? Did Allah legislate this? Did the Prophet himself or his Companions celebrate it? Where did it all start, and who introduced it?

Find out in our new comprehensive guide for children aged 7 and up. It’s crucial to teach our children the importance of staying away from practices that have no basis in Islam. Allah did not legislate these practices for us. Some might argue that celebrating the Mawlid shows love for the Prophet Muhammad, but true love for him can only be demonstrated through the teachings of Islam and the Sunnah, not by following our own intellect or desires.

This resource is based on a book by my teacher, titled *Regarding the Celebration of the Prophet’s Birthday: The Mawlid* by Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq. Although this guide only touches on the surface of this innovation in the religion of Islam, I plan to share more from this book, In’shaa’Allah.

This resource is ideal for Islamic schools, homeschooling parents, and Muslim families. Give your children the pure Tarbiyah that Allah expects from us and download this resource now, In’shaa’Allah.

I have also wrote a blog post about this here: https://www.authenticislamicteaching.com/post/the-origins-of-celebrating-birthdays-and-the-islamic-perspective-on-the-mawlid-prophet-s-birthday
