Muslim Children Are Lied to at School

As a teacher to Muslim children who attend mainstream schools, I often find myself revisiting the story of The Family of Imran and the truth about Prophet Eesa. These stories are essential for our children to understand their belief correctly, especially in a world where they are often taught misleading or false narratives in schools.

It’s heartbreaking to know that our children are told that Jesus (Prophet Eesa) is the son of God (Allahul Musta’an) and that Mary (Maryam) was a Christian. These claims are not only false but deeply harmful, as they confuse young Muslim minds about the truth of their religion.

Why The Family of Imran Matters

The story of The Family of Imran is one of the most beautiful stories in the Qur’an. It teaches us about devotion, piety, and Allah’s special love for this noble family. Teaching our children about The Family of Imran ensures they understand the honored status of Prophet Eesa, Maryam, and their family in Islam, according to the Qur’an and Sunnah.

This is why I created the resource Prophet Eesa: The Slave and Messenger of Allah. It’s designed to teach Muslim children the truth about Prophet Eesa in an engaging and interactive way. Alhamdulillah, when I shared this resource with children, they were excited to learn about someone so loved by Allah.

Correcting False Narratives

Over the years, I’ve also seen how much confusion surrounds the story of Maryam (may Allah be pleased with her). This is why I’ve created another resource specifically to teach the truth about Maryam. Children need to know that Maryam was one of the most righteous women to ever live and that she was chosen by Allah—not as part of a false narrative, but as an example of faith and devotion.

Teachers, Lies, and Homeschooling

Children often come to me with questions about what their schoolteachers have told them. Many of these teachers perpetuate falsehoods, sometimes unknowingly, about our religion and its figures. It’s devastating because children naturally respect their teachers and trust what they say.

This is one of the reasons I encourage parents to consider homeschooling. Islamic homeschooling provides the opportunity to teach children about The Family of Imran, Prophet Eesa, and other figures from Islam without the interference of misleading narratives. It also allows us to instill tarbiyyah (Islamic upbringing) in every part of their education.

A Call to Action

May Allah guide us as parents and teachers to protect our children from the lies and deceit they may encounter. Let’s give them the tools to understand the truth about Prophet Eesa, The Family of Imran, and Maryam, and to be confident in their Islamic identity.

Through resources like Prophet Eesa: The Slave and Messenger of Allah and my resource on Maryam, we can help Muslim parents and educators teach these vital stories in a way that inspires and educates.

A Final Note

Whether you choose homeschooling or remain actively involved in your child’s school education, it’s crucial to ask them questions, engage in discussions, and teach them the Qur’an’s perspective on figures like The Family of Imran. Together, we can raise a generation that knows and loves the truth of Islam.
